Many times people asked me how I made hijra as a single mother. I honestly don’t have some amazing answer that can explain why I did what I did without fear but my understanding of Allah being Ar Razaq was pretty much all I had in my pocket and the desire to please Him by living with the muslims in my heart.
I firmly believe if Allah has decreed something for someone they will follow that path even without fully knowing why they are doing so. To me it just made sense, many people trust the government will pay them each month and they just sit down and wait every week to week for those payments from the Government even though they don’t work for it or do anything to exert them self and secure that money. So to fear that Allah would be less generous then the Government and deny the Rizq He has prescribed for me is not correct as Allah is the Most Generous. Our Rizq has been decreed for us not matter where we are all we must do is seek it.
Many People fear poverty and the hardships of making hijrah because they say, how will I work? how will I do this and that but they don’t realise all the things they fear and the lifestyle they want isn’t the true lifestyle they should live as a muslim anyway since a muslim should live like a traveller seeking shade under a tree and then continue.
Allah didn’t create us to live permanently in this world and to enjoy every deception, Allah created us for the Akhirah. We live in this life only as a test to worship Allah and elevate our self in the Akhirah through His obedience.
[He] who created death and life to test you [as to] which of you is best in deed – and He is the Exalted in Might, the Forgiving (Quran 67.2)
Fear of the unknown is normal to an extent and to have a plan is wise, as a muslim must always be wise. But we must also trust in Allah and keep everything in perspective.
While the majority of the muslim world are living a very basic, simple life and even dying from hunge, we should take the advise of the prophet peace be upon him and the words of Allah in the Quran and remember we are ONE ummah and should not be seeking the beauty of the dunya while we know many muslims are hungry and struggling.
